Their plan is to alternate between the two cities, and perhaps invite other cities to join in.

In Kansas City, a host of events were scheduled for the entire week, beginning with a Martin Luther King, Jr. State Celebration Musical featuring the Youth Symphony of KC, Rezound Hand Bell Choir and other local talent on Friday at St. James United Methodist Church.

In Indianapolis, eventsare scheduled throughout tomorrow, starting off with a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration titled, "Making History, Making Art"at theIndianapolis Museum of Art, featuring hands-on art projects andchoir performances. At other events across the city there are cultural programs scheduled at schools and churches.

In Hammond, Indiana, a candle light march is planned to commemorate the life of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., 5:45 a.m. Monday. Those who come to honor Dr. King will march from the city hall to the Hammond Civic Center.

Across the Poughkeepsie valley in New York a host of activities are slated for the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in numerous towns there.
