Texas UFO-Mike Conley's Tales of the Weird.

Are you complete aware of the facts of Texas UFO? It’s really a good idea to probe a little deeper into the subject of Texas UFO. What you learn may give you the confidence you need to venture into new areas.

Mike Conley's Tales of the Weird: More on the Texas UFOs by Mike Conley yesterday.

A couple of weeks ago, this column took a look at the strange UFO sightings in Stephenville, Texas. At first, a military spokesman said that the weird objects in the sky people in Stephenville were seeing could just be an optical illusion. He added that no fighter jets were in the area on Tuesday, Jan. 8, when most of the sightings occurred.

Now, it seems the military is telling a different story.

Earlier this month, folks in Stephenville reported seeing a massive silent object with bright lights flying low and fast in the sky. Many of the sightings happened on the night of Tuesday, Jan. 8, according to the story by the Associated Press.

One person who reported seeing the UFO was Steve Allen, a freight company owner and pilot in Stephenville. He said the object he saw was a mile long and half a mile wide. "It was positively, absolutely nothing from these parts," he said in the AP story.

Others reported that the object's lights changed configuration, unlike those on an airplane. Several reported seeing at least two fighter jets chasing the UFO.

A spokesman for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Joint Reserve Base Naval Air Station in Fort Worth at first said what these people were seeing could have been an illusion caused by two commercial airplanes. He also said no F-16s or other aircraft were in that area the night of Tuesday, Jan. 8.

But last week, Air Force Reserve officials backtracked from their earlier statements and said fighter jets were training nearby after all that night.

Meanwhile, members of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) traveled to Stephenville to look into the situation. MUFON is a non-profit organization dedicated to the scientific study of UFOs. It has chapters all over the United States, including North Carolina.

The director of the Texas chapter of MUFON took more than 50 reports from folks in Stephenville. He said the Air Force Reserve's latest statement supports the theory that there was indeed some strange activity in that area.

"I find it curious that it took them two weeks to fess up," said Kenneth Cherry, director of the Texas MUFON chapter. "I think they're feeling the heat from the publicity."

Officials at the Joint Reserve Base Naval Air Station in Fort Worth first said none of their planes had been in the area. But later they said 10 F-16s were there that day. The officials stated they were mistaken and wanted to set the record straight "in the interest of public awareness," according to the AP story.

Maj. Karl Lewis, a spokesman for the 301st Fighter Wing, declined to comment further on the sightings.

But folks in Stephenville said they know what military aircraft looks like and what they saw on Jan. 8 was completely different.

"I couldn't begin to say what it was, but to me it wasn't planes," said Anne Frazor, who owns a fabric store in the city.

Since the sightings were first reported, residents of Stephenville have been making the most of the phenomenon. Some high school students created T-shirts depicting a flying saucer and the slogan "Stephenville: the new Roswell." Several stores put up messages on their marquees, including one that says "Aliens welcome," according to the AP story.

Members of the Mutual UFO Network simply want the government to quit making evasive statements and talk straight to the American public.

"What we want is the government to admit there are UFOs and what they know about them," Cherry said to the AP.

Shipwreck Potpourri - Bermuda

Author: Geri Murphy
Bermuda is a tropical Atlantic island surrounded by a labyrinth of coral reefs that rise up to the sea's surface. Upon those reefs lie the remains of more than 300 sunken ships, one of the world's largest collections of historic wrecks in shallow water. As a result, the island has become a magnet for vacationing divers who love the thrill of shipwreck exploration and enjoy maritime history.
Bermuda's waters are a veritable undersea museum. History comes alive as you swim among the steam boilers, ship's propellers, canons and other artifacts of bygone eras. Awaiting visitors are more than 35 diveable shipwrecks from a dozen countries that span four centuries of maritime history. These wrecks include everything from Civil War blockade-runners to French and British warships to an array of steamers and freighters.
Wind direction and sea swells can sometimes deny access to certain dive sites, but since Bermuda is completely encircled by wrecks, there is always a calm side where wreck diving is good.
When the wind blows from the northeast or northwest, Bermuda's dive boats head for the protected south shore, where the wrecks are very close to land and surface conditions remain relatively flat. Here divers will discover a trail of six sunken ships that offer an amazing variety of wreck experiences.
The South Shore Six
One of Bermuda's most mysterious shipwrecks is the Mary Celestia, a Confederate blockade-runner that operated under multiple identities to confuse Union spies. Today, this 225-foot ship lies in 55 feet of water with one of her paddlewheel frames standing upright like a miniature ferris wheel.
The Minnie Breslauer was one of the unluckiest ships to sink in Bermuda waters. This 300-foot, steel-hulled English steamer was on her maiden voyage between Portugal and New York with a cargo of wine, dried fruit and bales of cork when she hit a reef. An attempt to back the ship off the reef resulted in its sinking. The wreck sits one mile off the south shore in depths ranging from 25 to 70 feet.
The Hermes is considered Bermuda's most popular wreck dive because she is fully intact, sitting upright on the bottom in 80 feet of crystal-clear water. She is the perfect picture of a classic shipwreck. Originally designed as a buoy tender, this 165-foot, steel-hulled vessel eventually was abandoned at a Bermuda dock before being scuttled as an artificial reef.
One of Bermuda's oldest wrecks still visited by divers is the three-masted, square-rigged Virginia Merchant. Used by the Virginia Company of England as a commercial cargo vessel, she carried colonists to the New World and returned with valuable cargoes of tobacco. While attempting to round the western end of Bermuda, the tiny sailing ship was struck by a severe storm and driven onto the reef. Today, the ship's ballast stones can be found on the sand bottom at 40 feet, 250 yards off Whale Bay, surrounded by beautiful coral archways and crevices loaded with reef fish.
The King was an old U.S. Navy tugboat that was brought to Bermuda and converted into a treasure salvage vessel. Built in 1941, the little tug measured 55 feet in length with a 13-foot beam. She was never used for salvage but instead converted into a dive boat. In 1984, the King was donated by a local salvage diver as an artificial reef and was intentionally sunk by South Side Scuba. She now rests in 65 feet of water, fully intact, tilted to her starboard side, with her bow pointing upward.
In 1915, the English steamer Pollockshields ran up on the reef while carrying a cargo of World War I ammunition. The wreck lies in shallow water and is now a jumble of steel plates, beams and ribs.
The south shore six are just a sample of Bermuda's wreck heritage. Accessing these and other wrecks depends on the direction and strength of the wind and ocean swells. Bermuda's dive operators are experts at reading the local weather and will always take their customers to the wrecks where conditions are best that day.
Bermuda also offers superb reef diving with exceptionally healthy coral reefs, coral grottos, tunnels, archways and caves. The reefs and wrecks are populated with reef fish and marine life varieties seen in the Caribbean, plus some indigenous to Bermuda.

valentines day poem by David E.Burton

Valentines Day Poem

What is love

By David E. Burton

What is Love

Love is the gentle touch with a hint of passion and a soft sprinkle of lust.
Love is trust.

Love is holding hands ever so gently under the moon light
Love is trust

Love is steering so intently into your lover eyes with the feeling that,
this is so right.
Love is a sweet walk in the park with that special someone.
Love is pain, pleasure and everything nice
Love is trust.

Love is loving and caring for you in a very special way.
Love is remembering the simple and special things we do and say.
Love is remembering how sweet you are and wishing you

Tata Nano - The world's cheapest car

The Tata Nano car is introduced at the 9th Auto Expo in New Delhi, India. In the words of Ratan Tata, chairman of the company behind the upstart econobox, India's "People's Car" will be a "safe, affordable, all weather vehicle for a family which is today traveling on a two wheeler." The entry level model is ticketed at just over $2,500 — or the equivalent of 100,000 rupees or one Lakh.A cute, short thing, with four doors, tiny wheels placed out at the far corners of the body and what looked like plenty of room inside. The Nano has just enough space for a briefcase or small bag under the hood. The engine — all two cylinders, 624cc and 33 horsepower of it — is in the back, just like the Volkswagen Beetle of old. The speedometer and other instruments cluster in a central pod in the middle of the dashboard rather than directly in front of the driver, the easier (and cheaper) to offer both left- and right-hand versions when Tata Motors starts exporting the car to Southeast Asia and Africa in a couple of years. The top third of the oversized headlights act as the turn signals (indicators) and look like cheeky yellow eyebrows above the main lights. "Car companies are in probably the most emotive business area that one can find apart from fashion," company chairman Ratan Tata told TIME a day before the big launch. "There will be people who say it looks like a toy, but if you consider the value proposition I think the car is great."

Tata hopes the Nano will help millions of poor people around the world — the "Bottom of the Pyramid" in developing world marketing-speak — switch from two wheels to four. Environmentalists, city planners and even some competitors, on the other hand, warn that the new vehicle will clog up India's crowded roads and add clouds of pollution to its already filthy air.

On Friday, after an independent tribunal, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has confirmed that former world number one Martina Hingis 27-year-old Swiss has been banned for next two years for testing positive for cocaine at Wimbledon last year.

She would also forfeit the ranking points resulting from last year's Wimbledon championships and $US129,481 ($A147,430) in prize money.

"The tribunal also rejected Ms Hingis' plea of No (or No Significant) Fault or Negligence, on the basis that no mitigation was possible as it had not been shown how the cocaine entered her system," it said.

Larry Scott, chief executive of the Women's Tennis Association, said in a statement: "We are saddened by this news as Martina has meant so much to fans the world over and made many positive contributions to the sport".
